At the regularly scheduled business meeting of 20 March, the membership voted to use the Poll system for voting and nominated Post members for the elected officer positions. Per the Poll system, the meeting's nominations will appear on the ballot for voting by the membership on 12 April from 1200 to 1400 and again on 17 April from 1500 to 1900 hours. Any vacant position for an elected officer positions will be filled via nomination from the floor followed by election at the 17 April meeting. In the case of a lone nomination for a position, the voting is moot. Active members of the Post must vote in person. Absentee and proxy ballots are not allowed.
Those nominated for the elected office of Commander are Commander Jack Porath and Dustin Lee; Sr Vice Commander Steve Esquilin; Jr Vice Commander Joseph Chalot and James Johnson; Quartermaster Danny Redmond; and 3Year Trustee Russell Orrell. All other Post positions are appointed by the incoming Commander.
Consider and ask of the candidates:
1. Has the person occupied a past Post office? If so, what did he/she accomplish?
Has this person done anything positive for the Post as a volunteer or ?
W Why is the person interested in the office for which nominated/elected?
What change within the Post does the person envision?
Has the person regularly attended past monthly business meetings? If so, did the person positively contribute so as to improve the Post in any way? Is the person disruptive in meetings?
Is the person familiar with the various roles and rules within the Post?
SoSome positions require more time that normally envisioned, in particular the Commander and Quartermaster? Does the person have the skill, time and dedication to do the job? Are they business minded or just social (after all, the Post is first a business)? Does the Commander possess strong writing and communication skills? Does the Quartermaster possess skill with Excel and computer usage that would include on-line banking processes are recommended. Are they honest?
